TECH5 – Our Brand
Since TECH5 started business in 2003, the company has built its brand by working mainly with the Toro turf care manufacturer. After Colin Theedom retired from TECH5 and prior to the brand being reignited, Hitachi Credit has moved on to run this highly successful leasing program.
This certainly left us with a challenge, nevertheless, with some great opportunities. This began when our new management team started to get involved in Novemeber 2016.
TECH5 had – and still has! – a great reputation in the leasing and financing of turf care and related agricultural equipment. The TECH5 company has an amazing story to tell. Not only this, but we have worked with nearly three hundred suppliers of equipment in the UK and have over 1,200 customers.
The key challenge was the team were so busy, there was little time to build close relationships with the many end user golf club and farming customers. Thus, incapable to build the brand into the other 2,000 UK golf clubs, and thousands of landscape gardeners that lease farming and agricultural equipment.
Our Golf Club Leasing Strategy
We began by calling all our existing golf clubs leasing customers to say hello and explain what we are doing. In addition, we produced a high-quality brochure that promoted our expanded range of lease offering in the UK golf sector.
Next, we purchased a list of all UK golf clubs and posted our leasing brochure to them. Our telemarketing team have been introducing themselves to all the clubs too. We believe we are the only UK leasing company to have contacted all UK golf clubs.
The second part of our golf club leasing strategy, is to build strong commercial relationships with suppliers in the industry. We have been talking to suppliers of:
- Turf Care Equipment
- Diggers
- Tractors
But also:
- Lockers
- Catering equipment
- Golf simulators
- Golf buggies
Our Farm Finance Leasing Strategy
We really enjoy leasing to UK farmers. Their credit is normally fantastic, they are absolutely wonderful people to work with and often will buy high value farming equipment.
Writing to them is great because they don’t usually change their address. Alternatively, email or telephone is another option we choose to keep in contact. However, it is not always easy to email or telephone them. To make matters worse, calling a farmer when he or she is busy is not the best thing to do.
Building the TECH5 Brand via Our Website
The www.tech5.co.uk website was never used to promote the business in the past. Recently we have an aim to change this and a large effort is being made to promote leasing and asset finance into our core customer and supplier base.
